May 01, 2012 @ 11:28 AM — by Zach Drivon

The Law Offices of Drivon, Turner & Waters offer over 40 years of practical experience in the field of personal injury and medical malpractice in the Central Valley. The attorneys at our firm have dedicated their careers to the vigorous advocacy of consumer rights. Our foremost priority is protecting the rights of our clients, as we acknowledge that the process of attempting to recover financial losses arising from an injury can be arduous and frustrating. Insurance companies act to insulate their own clients from risk, yet fight tooth and nail to protect themselves from liability.

Big Rig Risk

Big Rig Behemoths

18-Wheel Tractor Trailers, commonly referred to as 'Big Rigs' are as common to highways as the pavement upon which we travel. They serve as indispensable utilities of commerce, delivering the commodities which fuel our daily lives, and provide a convenience of accessibility that we treasure as part of our American culture. Despite the invaluable service these vehicular monsters facilitate, they present a grave danger to vehicles which cross their path. The scale of big-rig-tractor-trailers is enough to naturally pose a threat to smaller, more vulnerable vehicles on the highway. Moreover, truck drivers can also contribute to the risk of collision through unsafe driving practices or habitual inattentiveness.

Motorcyclists at Risk

March 01, 2012 @ 11:35 AM — by Zach Drivon

According to the U.S. Department of transportation, there were over 8,000,000 motorcyclists on the road in 2009. Despite the substantial number of riders on our roads and highways, motorcycles continue to have a relatively inconspicuous presence in comparison to passenger vehicles. While motorcyclists themselves are fully aware of their own discreet existence, other motorists remain nearly oblivious of them. Most often, passenger vehicle drivers do not become aware of a rider's presence until they come within a dangerously close proximity. Adding to the inherent danger for riders, is the fact that motorcycles are much more unstable than four wheeled vehicles, and provide virtually no protection in a crash. This makes the risk of a motorcycle accident or collision, a deadly proposition.

 The Causes

Traumatic Brain injury (TBI) can occur through a variety of mechanisms including: sudden or repeated blunt force trauma, known as "closed head injuries", oxygen depletion to the brain, also known as 'hypoxia', as well as, chemical toxosis, tumors, infections and stroke. Every year, 1.5 million individuals suffer a traumatic brain injury. Of the one and a half million victims, 50,000 die and 85,000 suffer long term disabilityhttp://www.traumaticbraininjury.com/content/understandingtbi/causesoftbi.html
