Negligent Driving

January 19, 2012 @ 03:10 PM — by Zach Drivon

Negligent Driving Habits

Negligent driving is characterized as operating an automobile in a manner that could endanger other people or property. Historically, the most concerning negligent driving practice has been drunk driving. However, recent statistics show that drunk driving incidents and fatalities have been on the decline. Modernly, drunk driving fatalities are more likely to be perpetrated by an alcoholic, as opposed to a recreational drinker. Moreover, the average blood alcohol level of a drunk driver involved in a fatal crash is (.19); more than twice the legal limit. Nevertheless, over the last 20 years, while drunk driving fatalities have decreased, overall traffic traffic fatalities have increased. http://negligentdriving.com/

Holiday Hazards

Poor weather conditions, anxious, inattentive, and inebriated drivers, along with a substantial increase in traffic volume during the holidays, all combine to make holiday travel a dangerous proposition. According to the C.H.P, four people were killed over the Christmas holiday weekend last year, in which 658 drivers were also arrested for DUI.http://www.chp.ca.gov/pdf/media/11-39.pdf  Only one week later, during the new years weekend, 25 people were killed and astoundingly, 961 drivers were arrested for DUI. Further, statistics show that 24% of all crashes occur in poor weather conditions, including rain, snow and ice. http://www.sciencedaily.com/videos/2008/0601-bad_weather_bad_drivers.htm
