The effects of Spinal cord injury

January 17, 2012 @ 11:40 AM — by Zach Drivon

The bundle of nerves and backbones which make up the spinal column, is the most essential component of the human body, with the exception of the brain. The spinal cord extends from the base of the brain, along the middle of the back, and down to the waist. Its function is to carry messages back and forth, from the brain to nerves along the spinal tract, and other parts of the body, through the upper and lower motor nuerons. This allows sensory messages to be conveyed to the brain and facilitates the initiation of muscle movement. This mechanism is known as the central nervous system.http://www.spinalinjury.net/html/_spinal_cord_101.html
